What Majestic Trust Flow actually measures

Trust Flow is Majestic's score, from 0 to 100, for the quality and trustworthiness of the links pointing to a website. The idea is simple. Majestic manually reviews a small set of sites it considers trusted. The fewer clicks it takes to get from one of those trusted seed sites to yours, the higher your Trust Flow.

It has a companion metric called Citation Flow, which measures how many links point to you and how influential they are, without judging quality. Comparing the two is a standard sanity check. A site with a high Citation Flow and a much lower Trust Flow usually has a lot of links from sites nobody trusts. Majestic also publishes Topical Trust Flow, which splits your score by subject categories such as Business or Computers, based on the topics of the sites that link to you.

Trust Flow isn't a Google metric and doesn't influence rankings directly. Its value is as a quality filter. What really moves Trust Flow (and what does not)

Because Topical Trust Flow scores links by subject, a link from a relevant site adds weight where you want it, while a pile of unrelated links leaves your topical profile flat.
